"The First Hellboy" Statues from Mondo

        You know what I find fascinating?  Besides the fact that anyone can not want to punch Bono in the face.  Seriously, the guy is practically begging for it.  But besides that,I find it fascinating how popular things start out.  For instance, have you ever seen the original concepts for Star Wars?  The characters started out looking way different than the ones we all know and love.  Chewbacca looked like an overly hairy cookie elf and C3PO could have stared in a remake of Metropolis.  My head hurts just thinking about it.

    Imagine how blown my mind was when I saw these new statues from Mondo.  I never realized that this is what Hellboy looked like before he evolved into the cat loving demon we all know.  He's available in two versions, with the black and white one an exclusive to the Mondo website.  Both 12 inch statues are available for preorder right now by clicking here.

    

Toy Fair 2014: Dark Horse

    If you're a fan of Game of Thrones (which why wouldn't you be) then this year is gonna be an expensive one for you because their merchandise packed this year's Toy Fair.  Most of the stuff consisted of action figures, which of course I like, but it is nice to see some different stuff available too. Not everyone is as lucky as I am to have a spouse who is not only supportive of my addictions (all healthy mind you) but is an active participant.  Which is why it was refreshing to see what Dark Horse had on display, as it allows you to scratch that collecting itch without having to hide your toys in the basement.  

     They do have a line of figures out as well, but items such as this snow globe and the map with the markers of the different factions allow you to fill your house with your obsession without having to be lectured about acting like a kid.  Not that that's ever bothered me, but sometimes you do have to class the joint up a bit, and this is the perfect way to do it while still waiving your fan flag.  Look for these and more coming out in March.

SDCC Hellboy Mini Qee from Toy2R x Dark Horse

    My friend Heather loves Hellboy.  She owns just about every Hellboy product, has a tattoo of him, and would probably marry him if society could get passed its issue with human/fictional character relationships.  Who are we to define love?

    So I know she's gonna need one of these San Diego Comic Con exclusive Hellboys from Toy2R and Dark Horse.  And just look at him, all decked out with his Comic Con logo tee.  Ready to stand in line for hours to buy exclusives to sell on eBay.  Ready to enjoy that special smell that you can only experience when surrounded by 150,000 of your closest pals.  Ready to file for bankruptcy as soon as he returns home.  Am I a bit bitter that I can't go?  Yeah, a tad.  But one day I'll make it out west and experience the madness for myself.  For those of you lucky enough to be there this guy will be $20 and there were 350 of them made.  They're available at the Dark Horse booth.
