Basuritas Vinyl Toys from Mishka x Kalaka Toys x 3DRetro

My Saturday was jam packed:  first I went to work, then I came home to eat dinner, then I went back to work but at a different place than the first time cause I'm trying to make that Wrestlemania money.  The struggle is real, but even if I wasn't working my hands to the bones I still live 3,000 miles away from 3DRetro and the killer Basuritas release party they threw.  So while many of us were unable to attend don't get too depressed, because the very figures the shindig was celebrating are now available online.   These vinyl toys were created by Kalaka Toys and Mishka and are heavily inspired by Garbage Pail Kids (Basuritas were the Argentinian version of those wonderfully gross trading cards).

Each four pack is blind bagged and will come in either red, green, black, or glow in the dark.   So even if you find yourself at work, go take one of those on the clock bathroom breaks and order a set or two on your phone.  Pooping on company time is the best way to get back at your employer for all the psychological damage they have caused you without the expense and hassle of having to hire a lawyer.

These are available now at www.3dretro.com.

I Pity the Dolls: The World's Largest Mr. T Collection book from Greg Mishka

I love looking at people's collections especially when they've made a point to collect every possible item in their range of interest.  Recently I went to Cooter's Garage in Luray, VA, which sounds like a place that could easily be surrounded with crime scene tape most of the year.  It's owned by the guy that played Cooter on the Dukes of Hazzard and beyond just being a replica of the set it boasts a huge memorabilia collection from the show.  That's the kind of insanity I'm into when it comes to collecting and that's exactly what Greg Mishka has done with his hero, Mr. T.  While his hoard doesn't occupy a large building in the Shenandoah Valley, or offer $5 photos inside the General Lee (which I happily paid, even though they wouldn't let me slide across the hood) it will grace the pages of the book he's trying to put together.  The collection, not the picture.  I'm stingy with licensing my image.

Kinda bummed that the doors weren't welded shut.  Also kinda thankful that my dad body didn't have to try and fit through the window.

I say "trying"because right now he's got a Kickstarter campaign which aims to fund publication.  It will feature what has been confirmed the largest Mr. T collection in the world, including over 200 handmade Mrs. Martha's Orginal plush dolls.  Seeing them all together kinda freaks me out a little, and I hope Greg has a well tested padlock on the door to that room.  I'm not saying they might come to life all zombie like and snack on your intestines, but I'm not saying they won't either.

There's tons of rewards to be had, including exclusive Mishka gear only available as part of this campaign and even vintage collectables from his secret stash.  If you've been looking for ways to feel like Oprah you too can now be a part of a literary success story by visiting the Kickstarter campaign to pay for this, sucka.  Check out the link here.

Mishka Dunny Series from Kidrobot + Release Party

Oh my goodness this is the craziest Dunny series ever made.  They got zombie looking ones, crazy animals with guns and forked tongues.  There's even one that looks like you're creepy uncle Ted. This series is not for people that have never been in a fight or haven't had a tetanus booster shot in the last five years.  Each one is decorated with pure snake venom and contains the angry soul of a biker demon.  I want them all.

Mishka and Kidrobot have teamed up to bring you these Dunnys that are sure to make your mother cry and tell all her friends how disappointed she is in you.  She doesn't get you man, but I do!  These are being released into the wild on Friday, March 11th, but if you're lucky enough to live in the San Francisco area you can get yours a day early by going to the release party at Woot Bear/Kidrobot SF.  Hit it up from 6-9pm, buy a ton of toys, and trade with your fellow collectors.

Here's a few of my favorite designs from the series:

My Top 10 Exclusives for This Year's New York Comic Con

Let me tell you how prepared I am for New York Comic Con:  I went out today and got a flu shot.  I normally get one every year, and usually well before now, but there was no way I was gonna be pressed up against the sweaty, sniffling, masses without giving my immune system a chance at survival.  Plus, I'm totally out of sick days after The Great Kidney Stone of 2015 and I ain't trying to not get paid, suckas. So the only thing I have left to do is prepare my credit cards to be used and abused and to present to you my top 10 favorite exclusives I've seen for this year's convention.

Now this isn't one of those arbitrary lists with random numbers like Buzzfeed puts out there.  I have respect for the sanctity of the top 10 list and damn it without some sort of tradition we're just a bunch of apes rubbing sticks on the rocks to poke each other with.  I will not be poked by an uncouth monkey!  Speaking of ape-like creatures, the top dude you see there is the brand spankin new Wing Kong from Super7.  I love it.  It's a monkey, who looks pissed off, and he's got wings.  That's pretty much the total package.  Available at booth 174.

And speaking of horrible illness, check out this infected Dunny from Scott Wilkwoski x Kidrobot.  See, this is the type of thing that I am confident my flu shot will protect me from.  Available in purple or grey and only $60 each, you better be quick to the Clutter Magazine booth # 603 to get one.

If I were to ride a horse, which I'm not saying I will, I would hope that it would be a demonic hell pony with a tentacle mouth and bat wings.  Oh, what a coincidence, I happen to have one right here.  Bigshot Toyworks has these Lil Maddie figures at booth #208 just in time to rustle up your demonic cows and send them to the demonic slaughterhouse for processing into demonic burgers.

Is it an ice cream cone?  Is it candy corn?  Is it andy corn flavored ice cream?  Is it ice cream cosplaying as candy corn?  I don't know, but now I have a headache thinking about it.  Kozik's Monger Jerome from Rotofugi x Squibbles Ink is looking very Halloween-y in this paint job.  I need one and you do too only at booth # 603.

Oh let me tell you how I love some marbled vinyl.  It's like the sweet patina of the plastic world.  These Cestodas from Miscreation Toys are the size of a small child without the nagging.  Mishka will have these available at booth # 110.  Bing a back brace to carry this sucker.

I have yet to even see what the latest Shub Zeroth figure from Meta Crypt looks like, but I am so confident that it couldn't possibly suck that I'm adding it to my list.  Go pay a visit to Brian Ewing at booth # 120 for some killer art and metaphysical plastic.

I love snow cones, so now you can add that to the list of facts you know about me.  I hope that a snow cone never turns on me like this crazy dude from Jason Limon x Martian Toys.  Damn, this is a great figure and available at booth # 203.

CATS!  It's huge, it's a cat, and I need it.  Komatsu x myplasticheart have a special release of this new Daioh Negora at booth 113 and I'm gonna try and get one cause I'm that kind of pimp.

Another Dunny and another item I have to own.  Like, I won't die per se if I don't get one, but I wouldn't stand to close cause I may rage out.  doubleparlour killed this and it's debuting at booth # 603.

The award for "most adorable freakin thing at comic con" goes to these Sleepytime Sea Bunnies from Peter Kato.  They are limited to 30 pieces and will be available from the Piq Products booth # 614 starting tomorrow.

A New "Keep Watch" Mummy Boy from Mishka x Super7

Could you imagine how impractical it would be if our entire heads were just one big eyeball?  We'd never have any of those good fighting videos on Youtube because as soon as someone got poked it would be over.  Giant monocles would probably be really expensive for people that needed vision correction, not to mention putting eye drops in would be a two man job.  And pink eye would probably be fatal.  Thus concludes my argument for us to maintain the two little eyes we have and not wish for a big, all encompassing one.  Stop your wishing!

The Keep Watch Mummy Boy from Mishka and Super7 is however a pro at keeping his neighborhood safe.  Nothing gets passed him, unless it occurs when he's making one of his very slow, energy draining blinks.  Then you could pretty much clean a house out and have half of the merchandise sold on Craigslist before he knew what happened.  You can get this unintentional peeping tom for your home tomorrow when he goes on sale at www.super7store.com.

The Bad News Dunny from Mishka x Kidrobot is a Thing of Beauty

I could sum up how I feel about this Mishka x Kidrobot collaborative Dunny collection with one picture that I think you all know and love:

I don't break out the "cute otter reaching for an ice cream sandwich" photo for just any toy.  No no no.  It is reserved for those special toys that make my soul ache with a longing I can barely describe.  And let me tell you, I'm jaded as hell about what I like.  I've seen it all and I'm not easily impressed, but I am loving these to no end.  Maybe it's because I spend my working life making eyeglasses and therefore feel a special connection to that organ.  Maybe it's cause I want a fuzzy bear suit.  Or maybe I just know greatness when I see it.  Now, let's get down to the particulars before you think I've gone soft on ya.  As you can see, there will be 8 inch and 3 inch versions of both color ways.  The 8 inch polar bear is a Kidrobot exclusive and only available through their website and their Las Vegas and San Francisco stores.  The 8 inch kodiak version is an exclusive to Mishka and Dunny retailers world wide. I'm guessing the 3 inch ones will be available all over because they weren't too specific about them.  They will be released on October 24th, so you have a bit of time to save some cash beforehand.

If you're lucky enough to be attending New York Comic Con, Mishka will also be offering limited preorders of the 8 inch kodiak and the two 3 inch Dunnys.  Hit up their booth # 110 for more info.

Power Rangers 20 Rangers for 20 Years at Toy Art Gallery

Tado

Most of the time when I post about custom shows I tell you about the day it starts and then you have a month or so to view it in person.  Not this time.  You literally only have this weekend to see these giant customized Power Rangers as part of their 20th Anniversary.  Twenty different ones will be on display from 20 of your favorite artists and Bandai will have really rare Power Rangers stuff on display for you to drool over.  There will also be a pop up shop featuring tons of stuff for you to buy, including a few limited tees from Mishka.  And you can of course buy the custom toys if you like.  This all takes place at Toy Art Gallery in LA and the opening reception is tomorrow night from 7-10pm.

Mishka Edition Bullet Belt from Skinner x Unbox Industries

Oh snap son!!!!!  Did you miss out on your first crack at sweet wrasslin action when Skinner and Unbox Industries released Bullet Belt?  Well, unlike my Uncle Ted and his plight with the criminal justice system, you're gonna get a second chance.   On a side note, just cause they find a semi automatic weapon in the trunk of your car doesn't mean you can't act surprised about it and plead ignorance till your lawyer gets there.  Uncle Ted has no poker face.

This is a most special Mishka edition of Bullet Belt known as Doom Belt!!!!!!!!!   Lamour Supreme created the paint scheme and you can pre order one of these beauties now.  I know what you're thinking: "but Chris, the weather is getting cold and I gotta save up for my heating bill."  Bull crap you do, cause Bullet Belt will keep you warm at night.  Just tuck him under the covers with you and let his awesomeness roast you like a Thanksgiving turkey.  And you don't have to grocery shop either, cause Bullet Belt will hunt all of your food for you with his bare fists.  I hope you like the taste of wild critters.  And you get a little Mini Bullet Belt to take with you to work, so he can get you that raise you deserve and stop other people from using your "World's Best Cat Dad" coffee mug.  It wouldn't be so bad if they would just wash it afterwards, cause you don't know where there filthy lips have been.  Mini Bullet Belt isn't gonna let you take that crap anymore and will leap from your pocket to throttle the offending party.

I know what you're thinking now: "Chris, you've convinced me to open my heart and accept Bullet Belt as my personal protector/lover, so how do I get one."  Well, I'm gonna tell you.  You gotta pay a visit to http://store.unboxindustries.info/ and preorder one, cause these bad boys are being painted to order.  So if you don't order one now, you'll never be able to get one later when you've finally come to your senses.  And you only have until October 31st to pull the trigger on this bad boy so get to it.

Bullet Belt is part of the Triclops B.A.S.T.A.R.D. universe, punk.

Kidrobot at New York Comic Con

Do you remember when Kidrobot caused such a commotion at last year's New York Comic Con with the release of that RSIN Dunny that they pretty much brought their entire side of the convention center to a halt?  I do cause I was there, knee deep in it man.  Those are the kinda risks I take to have awesome stories to tell you.  Actually, when the whole thing went down I was in line at the bathroom, but I was totally in the proximity of people that had been there and were talking about it and I listened in.  I really really had to pee.

Kidrobot will be there once again and they are bringing two new releases along with a couple that are gonna look mighty familiar to folks.  The two new ones are the black version of Day of the Dead Homer and a gold Ryu figure from their Street Fighter Series.

And here are the other two.  They are the exclusives that they had with them in San Diego.  Hmmmmmmmmmmm.  I bought both retailer versions of these guys already, so I don't feel the need to buy these, but some people are kinda mad about it.  I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed that there won't be another 3 inch release like last year that caused so much fuss.  I know they're focusing a lot of energy on the Dunny Evolved series which comes out the day the convention starts, but it's always nice to have something that's special and just for the people that were able to go.  I do love both of these designs, and I own the Labbit (in a different color scheme) and the Dunny (the elephant version) but that being said their lack of freshness doesn't make me clamor to get them.  Certainly if I had never seen them before I would have to own them both, but I'm not feeling that sense of urgency.  Completists will be excited, but I have to stretch my cash as far as possible these days, so I don't really buy the different colorways of the same figure anymore.  Maybe this is more of a statement about where my collecting habits have shifted than the decision of a company to utilize the same figures (on their two most popular platforms) as exclusives at two conventions.  I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts.

They will have a butt ton of signings though that will make even the most jaded collector happy.  Check out the list below:

My Top 10 Things I Want from SDCC

It seems the popular thing to do on blogs is to create lists.  Fearing criminal prosecution from most of the lists I would like to post, I instead decided to make a list of 10 things I would like to own from San Diego Comic Con.  These are in no particular order.

Anytime someone around me is complaining of any physical ailment I always tell them that their symptoms are consistent with that of a tapeworm living in their gut.  Thus far, I have only been successful at getting one person to actually go to the doctor with this concern, but I keep trying.

Ferg x Grody Shogun made this Young Gohst with a major parasitic issue for Lulubell Toy Bodega's booth #5045.  Get one on Saturday for $45.

Ferg also made this big ol suicidal cat for Rotofugi's booth #5248 starting tonight for $120.

I pretty much want everything Frank Kozik makes, but I narrowed it down to two things I really really really want.  First up is the hand painted Mr. Monsanto.  This releases tomorrow at 2pm at his booth #5051 for $100.

The second thing is this Mishka collaboration Labbit from Kidrobot.  I haven't even seen what it looks like but I know it's a must have.  These will be $99.99 at booth # 4995 on Saturday at noon.

It all of a sudden got real cute in here.  Balance is the key to life my friends, so I've gotta balance out the blood and guts with some sugar and spice.  Brandi Milne's Sugar Lamb, Go! fits the bill.  For $90 you can get this at 3DRetro's booth #5051.

Also from 3DRetro comes this little ice cream dude from Gary Baseman.  He's only $55, which I think is a deal.

Retro Outlaw has given the galaxy's greatest bounty hunter a new mission:  jump over Snake Canyon on your motorcycle, while on fire, while watching Breaking Bad on Netflix.  Piece of cake, dummies.  Visit booth #929, give 'em $120, and live forever in glory!

Classic He-Man figures with Charles Manson heads and custom paint jobs from Skinner? Yeah, I'll take one of those.  DKE will be selling 50 of these, each one unique, for $150.  Get one Friday at 11am.

Speaking of Skinner, look at these guys.  He designed the one on the left while Paul Kaiju designed the one on the right and sculpted them booth.  Get the set for $55 from Lulubell Toy Bodega booth #5045 on Friday.

Last, but certainly not least, is this 8 inch Dunny from Jon-Paul Kaiser x Kidrobot.  Again, who knows what it looks like, but who cares!  It's not gonna suck.  Get one Friday at noon from booth #4945.

Well there you have it.  I'm sure I forgot some stuff.  As always, presents are always appreciated and tax deductible.***

SDCC Release and Signing Schedule from Kidrobot

Well, looks like my work here is pretty much done.  Kidrobot has just released this handy guide to their releases and signings at next week's San Diego Comic Con.  I saw the mock ups for the Marvel Labbits at Toy Fair and they look pretty killer.  They are definitely the coolest licensed items Kidrobot has released thus far.  There are, however, two releases that I really, really, really, really want.  The first one being the Locondonta 8" Dunny from Jon-Paul Kaiser.  This one is supposed to be different from the smaller version that just came out in the 2013 series but no matter what it's going to be on my wish list until I can track one down.  The second is the Keep Watch Labbit from Frank Kozik x Mishka.  Even without seeing it you know it has to be amazing.  The last two artist series Labbits that were convention exclusives were made into retail releases using different colors, so I'm hoping something similar happens with this one.  Ditto on the Dunny.
