The Dream Big Friends Kickstarter from Bigshot Toyworks is Live!

    There's nothing that pulls on your heartstrings quite like little dreams.  I just finished reading a book and all one of the characters wanted to do was grow up and work in an office.  Oh, you mean like the first office on the ocean floor or something right?  Nope, just an old boring office with a fax machine that makes a hideous noise and a copier that eats toner like a Christmas ham.  Mind you the girl was a clone who was only around so her organs could be harvested to keep regular folks alive, but still, have you heard of a dream that was smaller than that?  It depressed me.

    Yuna has much bigger dreams, specifically that she wants to own a commercial rocket company and to visit Mars.  And she loves cats, which makes her pretty awesome in my book.  She is the brainchild of Bigshot Toyworks and the folks behind Uglydolls, Sun Min Kim and David Horvath and is intended to fuel a child's imagination through focusing on the world around them.  And yeah, it's a little different than the stuff I normally write about, but I have two nieces and I'd rather them grow up and feel that anything was possible rather than be consumed by whether their make up looks good or if their clothes are on trend.

Uglydoll x Universal Monsters Plushies for Halloween

    I know, I was kind of a jerk yesterday and didn't post anything.  I was spending the day with my wife, roaming around the city of Philadelphia like two lost tourists.  It was fun, we saw some weird stuff:

    Weird thing #1:  There was a new sneaker released yesterday and a huge line outside of a store we walked past of people trying to buy them.  One person in line was in a wheelchair and did not actually have legs.  And he was waiting in line to buy sneakers.  With no legs.

    Weird thing #2:  We went to a book signing that night and there were two blind people there.  It was at this point that I asked God why he was torturing me.

    So yes, the moral of the story is that I neglected my duties yesterday to entertain you, while I was thoroughly amused by the many things I saw all day.  It doesn't seem fair, but it also gave you a chance to peruse the archives and remember the fun we've had together in days gone long past.

    This Halloween you can buy yourself some new cuddle buddies in the form of Uglydolls dressed as Universal Monsters.  Just look how cute they are?  They're gonna be $20 when they're released so you can totally get them all, throw them on your bed, and roll around like you're Scrooge McDuck in his pile of money.  Except this will be softer and less coated in germs.

    Sometimes you just need a little something to brighten your day. Sometimes that thing is an adorable cat wearing the carcass of something else almost as adorable. I'm just kidding, the UglyDolls that's Hello Kitty is wearing are obviously costumes. (Hello Kitty may make me disappear if I she feels I have offended her. She rolls like the mafia).
