Seen at NYCC: Tenacious Toys x Toy2R

Toy2R teamed up with Tenacious Toys to create a monster booth filled with custom and production pieces. Each time I made my way past their crowded table there were different toys that I hadn't noticed before and a bevy of artist's there to meet the fans. The highlight for me was getting to meet prolific designer Jon-Paul Kaiser. If this show was any indication, he is going to be one of the biggest stars on the vinyl toy scene for years to come. As equally humble as he is talented, no one deserves the attention more.

Two Avengers customs by Jon-Paul Kaiser. Word is the rest will be on their way.

Check out some more of the amazing custom toys they had at their booth:

My NYCC Experience

Had a great time at New York Comic Con with my wife Sharon and our friend Heather and I'm working on compiling everything that happened for your enjoyment. I am also going to be launching a couple of contests over the next few weeks to give away some really cool stuff that we were able to pick up. For now, check out all the pictures on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/TheToyViking. You can also ponder these random thoughts from the convention.

1.) Axe Deodorant should really set up a booth with free samples next year. You put that many people into one place and body funk is inevitable.

2.) On the subject of scents: I was glad to learn the butter smell that was prevelent in one area of the convention turned out to be from a popcorn stand. As for the cat pee smell that was even more offensive, that remains a mystery.

3.) Evidently, Harley Quinn is the hardest cosplay outfit to make and also the most popular. Next year I'm considering hosting a panel that merges Americas Next Top Model with the women of Comic Con. We're gonna get you looking fierce ladies! (We'll work toys into it somehow)

4.) Spandex is not for everyone and at no time in my life has that been more clear.

5.) I'm dangerous when a place is willing to accept credit cards.

6.) I'm taller than anyone who likes Anime.

That's all for now. Take a gander at all the stuff I got and keep checking back as I post the goings on of specific booths.

Kosplay from Ajee

Amazing French artist Ajee made the trip to New York Comic Con this year to show off her forthcoming Kosplay figure sets. We were lucky enough to meet Ajee and speak to her a bit about the figures. They will come in three different versions; black and white, all black, and glow in the dark. As awesome as these look in the pictures they are even more amazing in person and we were lucky enough to photograph them. These will not be available for sale until the end of November, but f you go to the Bonus Toys website right now you can pre order the version that you want and they will ship it anywhere in the world for free!! These are going to be very limited (as in less than 200 each most likely), so if you want one you need to pre order it right now!!!!!!! This was the first thing I did after I fed my cats, who were kinda pissed at me for leaving them overnight to go to the con.

Graffiti Designs x DC Direct Joker Variant for NYCC

If you happened to finish the Batman: Arkham Asylum game, then you know why the Joker looks like he's been making out with your Aunt Sheila. Graffiti Designs and DC Direct have teamed up to bring you the Joker Sickened Variant figure that is a New York Comic Con exclusive. It's gonna cost you $20 at booth #1154 to add this festering clown to your collection and you can only get 2, so don't be greedy.

Hasbro x Spider Man Mini Muggs

Check out the Maximum Carnage Mini Muggs that Hasbro will be bringing to New York Comic Con. I remember playing this game on my Sega Genesis and getting all the way to the end and never being able to defeat Carnage. Every time he would whoop my behind and in a fit of rage I'd throw the controller at the wall. But then years later, I found that old system and replayed the game and guess who came out victorious? Well, he did the first 5 or 6 times, but then I finally beat the living hell out of him and I felt like I had just conquered the world.
None of that has anything to do with these figures per se, but I just wanted to share the happiness that I still feel at avenging my childhood frustration.

myplasticheart for NYCC....Again!

New York Comic Con is serious business. Just look at all the amazing stuff that the different retailers and producers are pulling together to get you to part with your money. I now present to you Humphrey Mooncalf: The Entertainer by Doktor A and Pobber Toys. myplasticheart will have the exclusive pre release of this figure that stands 8" tall and looks like a mighty fine steam punk gentleman. There will be 100 available and they will cost $95.

Last year Andrew Bell was on hand to debut the original Glop In a Box, so it seems fitting that they would follow that up with a different version of it for this year's crowd. You wanna talk limited? There are only 8 of these available and they cost $100.
