Custom Toy of the Week: Jon-Paul Kaiser

For my inaugural "Custom Toy of the Week" post, I had to feature the work of the amazingly talented and truly nice guy, Jon-Paul Kaiser.  He's already made production toys for Toy2r and Kidrobot and I expect a lot more of his work to be passing through those factories in China and into our hands.   This guy can do more with the color black than most artists can do with a truck load of paint.  Check out his latest custom, a Buddha Mini Munny.

Now, I couldn't pick just one to feature, so I also decided to show you this amazing Boba Fett Teddy Trooper.  I'd love to own an entire line of Star Wars toys that looked like this.  If George Lucas is reading this (which come on, of course he is) then these toys need to happen.  Check out Mr. Kaiser's website at http://jonpaulkaiser.blog.co.uk/ for more of his amazing toys.

SpikeWad from Jeffrey Lamm

Jeffrey Lamm is well known for creating the Greasebat figure that I have somehow managed to not buy for myself.  It's not for a lack of trying, more like a matter of timing.   As in every time I see one for sale I'm broke.  I love his work and he has a new monster to add to his already impressive repertoire.  Check out Spikewad, another giant creature that looks ready to wreck the nearest metropolis.  Only 30 of the above color way will be made and release info is not yet available.  What's even cooler about this figure is that the heads, torsos, and legs are interchangeable with his other toys!  These were all produced by Unbox Industries who do not suck at making toys.  Maybe we could make some Toy Viking toys?  Could be cool.

Legends of Mimobot and a Valentine's Day Sale

Ok, so you have all these genius files on your computer and they're so genius you don't want them falling into the hands of the less intelligent.  What do you do with them all?  You store them in another genius!!!  Albert Einstein is the first design in the brand new series of USB flash drives called the Legends of Mimobot.  I can't think of a better way to save all those lol cat pictures that have been clogging up my hard drive.  On a personal note, I hope they make an Edison vs. Tesla two pack.  Maybe they could each have a black eye from their epic battle over electricity!  Or maybe I'm just getting too excited.

And if you're in the market for some awesome digital storage devices, why not save some money on them?  Head over to the Mimobot Facebook page here, click the "Like" button, and get 20% off everything!  The offer ends on Valentine's Day, so get to it.

Fiery Tornado Honoo from Super7

Wow, the swirl of colors in this toy are blowing my mind!  Today at noon Pacific you can score yourself one of these mesmerizing Fiery Tornado Honoos from Leecifer and Super7.  He's gonna be $35 and probably will not last long.  This is by far the best use of swirled vinyl I have seen and the technique fits this figure perfectly.  What's also cool about this is that because the colors are mixed together no two figures will be the same.

Lord of The Rings Lego Mini Figures

I am pretty excited for these and it makes me want to break my Lego drought the more I look at them.  These are the first shots of the Lord of the Rings mini figures!!!!  The sets will be released this summer and I can't wait to see what they look like.  Hopefully they'll continue to tease us with more pictures.  I think I should buy them all, then find someone who has the Vagina Monlogues Lego sets and wage epic war on the color pink!!!  We shall stain the Butterfly Beauty Shop with the blood of evil!! And of girl toys!!!!!

Love Pink Mini Qee

OOOOOOOOhhh fluffy!  There are so many toys that are Valentine's Day theme this year, but this one is nice because it doesn't scream the holiday.  Toy2r presents the next color of their flocked Mini Qees and as you can see it's PINK.  It reminds me of those cakes that Hostess makes, and they're black inside.  My wife is telling me they're called Sno Balls and now I have to go to the store and try to hunt down this elusive pastry.  I should never have said anything.   These will be out soon and will most likely be $28 just like the other ones.  Please don't bite into it though, unless you have really good insurance and a taste for plastic.

New Mass Effect Figures With Free DLC

Now this is an interesting way to sell some toys.  The new Mass Effect line of figures will come with free downloadable content for the PC and XBox 360.  Each figure comes with something different to be used in Mass Effect 3 and the content will not be available anywhere else.  Four figures will be released soon with another four to follow later in the year.  Each one will cost you $20, but hard core gamers will most likely shell out the $160 for all eight if it gives them an edge.  Personally, I think it's a great tie in and I would expect to see much more of this in the future.  If they had done this for Arkham City I would have been at the store the day the toys were released.
