Buddy's Den at Toy Tokyo Underground This Friday

    Craigslist is a wonderland for buying weird stuff from even weirder people. Sometime last year I found a pair of taxidermist ducks on said website and thought they would be something neat to add to our cabinet of curiosities (which has spilled out into whatever spaces aren't occupied by toys). So my wife and I go and meet this woman who was about 80 years old and had a farm house filled with animals that had died there and she couldn't bear to part with. Somewhere along the lines she learned how to stuff 'em herself so they could always be with her. It was kinda sweet in a strange, Silence of the Lambs sort of way. You don't get to meet people like this at the mall.

    Buddy's Den is apart show happening this Friday at the Toy Tokyo Underground in New York. All of the artists created fake works of taxidermy that are supposed to be part of Buddy's collection. Sounds pretty neat to me and you have almost zero chance of being made into a piece of furniture like I feared I was going to be when I had my lone experience with the taxidermy world.

Doktor A Chester Runcorn Mourning Edition

    My favorite type of post to do is the kind where I really don't have to tell you anything because all you need to know is contained in the picture.  So let's talk about other things.  I'm terribly bummed about how the Philadelphia Flyers are playing as of late.  I really want us to win the Stanley Cup before I die, but it seems like they're gonna make me celebrate when I'm hanging by a thread in a nursing home.  Let's get it together and play hockey!!!!!!!!  Other than that the my four-legged children are good.  The website is doing well and I'm working on some new ideas that hopefully will come to fruition by the end of the year.  There's something pretty big that's gonna happen in August that I'll tell you more about as it gets closer.  My car was in the shop this past week but now everything is ok, which is good, because I was blissfully unaware of how important brakes were in the operation of a vehicle until there weren't any.  How are you guys doing?

Custom Toy of the Week: Bjornik

    These are breathtaking. They are the custom work of Bjornik, who has taken the tale of Little Red Riding Hood and turned it into a great set of toys. His work is stunning whether on paper or rendered in three dimensions on plastic. For this set he collaborated with his sister, who made the clothing that each figure is wearing. There is no doubt in my mind that his work will one day be featured on a production toy. Any company would be lucky to release such stunning work.
