Batman vs. Bane Porcelain Statue from DC Collectibles

Well, I think we all know how this is gonna end, and it's not gonna be with peaceful negotiations.  Here we have Bane getting ready to break the back of Mr. Bruce Wayne as recently showcased in The Dark Knight Rises.  Even I went to the theater to see this one, so I don't want to hear anyone crying that I spoiled it.   Plus its been in the Batman comic lore for ages, so you should have known.  But what I'm not telling you is how Batman is healed by the the ghost of Ronald Reagan who then gives him the pass code to that Death Star he secretly built in the 80's so he could use it's space laser to vaporize Bane.  Oh dang, guess I ruined the surprise for ya.

This porcelain statue from DC Collectibles is for the serious collector (and probably the ones with locked rooms in which they can store this away from kids and animals) cause this will set you back $325.  The good thing is that is comes out in November so you have plenty of time to start begging for someone to buy it for you for Christmas.  Or to plan a robbery.  The choice is yours.

Patricio Oliver Mini Qees from Toy2r

I don't know if it's because it's Monday, or that I've been off a few days, or that the Royal Family is involved in another photo scandal (seriously guys, when you're famous you need to keep your clothes on unless you are sure there are no cameras around) but I have nothing witty to say.  It could also be that I am in love with these and am just happy to share them with you sans commentary.

These Mini Qees are the latest from Patricio Oliver and Toy2r.  Entitled Ucumar, these bears protect the forests in his world of the Tenebrae.  I found this picture on Patricio's Facebook page, so I would imagine a release date before Christmas is not out of the question.

Nathan Hamill's Releases for Comikaze Expo

Nathan Hamill needs to make more toys.  There, I said it.  Seriously, his stuff is always really really cool but we need more of it.  Just look at those volcanoCECILrex figures.  He only made 7 of these little resin dudes and they're only $30 each.  He will be at Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo shindig in LA tomorrow at booth 1133 with these and the copper guy you see below:

His name is Kammu and he is sporting the aforementioned antique copper finish.  My wife and I like antique things and when we find one that is so good we can't live without it we call it a "pimptique".  I don't know if we heard that somewhere and just stole it or what, but feel free to use it whenever you peruse your local flea market.  This toy is old in spirit, so therefore it is now a pimptique.  Only 25 were made and it'll cost ya $75.

Sticking with our pimptique vibe, this is Kammu sporting his antique gold finish.  You wanna talk about rare?  Only 3 of these exist in the whole world.  These are gonna be hanging out at the Toy Art Gallery Anniversary Party and will be $200 each.

Kevin Winnik to Unleash Outsmart Originals

Not long ago Toy2r announced it would be closing its US division, which has led to much speculation and many, many Twitter updates.  I was sad at first because you never want to see what is an already small designer toy scene get even smaller, but like the mythical phoenix, something has indeed risen from those ashes.

Former Toy2r USA CEO Kevin Winnik wasn't gonna look at funny cat videos all day.  Nope, he went right on ahead and started his next project, Outsmart Originals.  Since he announced this new venture he has posted teaser images featuring the art of Jon-Paul Kaiser and Frank Mysterio.  For now everything else is clouded in secrecy, but just these two pictures alone is enough to get excited about.

I met Kevin briefly at New York Comic Con last year and he seems like a nice dude , so I'm glad he's still gonna be around making toys.  Plus, you really can't go and work anywhere else after you work for a toy company cause it will never be as cool.  Unless you join an outlaw motorcycle gang, but their 401k plans are rarely good.

Patty Power Triple Decker from Super7

I am fortunate enough to live within driving distance of a Bobby's Burger Palace, the hamburger joint owned by Bobby Flay.  They have the most amazing burgers I've ever eaten in my life, so much so that after we eat my wife and I usually contemplate buying more to eat later on.  Then we realize we don't want to weigh as much as the cows our delicious food just came from and we are able to walk away with our waistlines intact.  Curse your savory noms Bobby Flay!!!!!

This is the Triple Decker Patty Power from Super7 and unlike the aforementioned meat products, this one will not ruin your dreams as a runway model.  This heap of plastic yummyness is available today at noon Pacific time for $35.

In Other News

Today's lack of meaningful blog posts can be attributed to the season premiere of Sons of Anarchy last night.  I'll try harder tomorrow.

Kidrobot 10th Anniversary Toy Releases

It's kinda hard to believe that Kidrobot has only been around for ten years.  My wallet and credit score certainly agree that it feels much longer, but it has only been a decade.  So how does a toy company celebrate such a milestone?  By making new things for you to buy of course!  There will be 2 Mini Bots for starters, the one you see pictured above all decked out like a cast member from Toddlers and Tiaras, and the one you see below that is a bit understated with just his 10 logo designed by Tristan Eaton.  The beauty queen one will be available at tons of retailers, while the 10th anniversary edition will only be at Kidrobot stores and their website.  They're $14.95 each and come out on October 12th.

But what would a celebration be without the most famous of their products, the Dunny.  Again, the design is simple and under normal circumstances I would complain a bit,  but being it is a piece to recognize their longevity in the toy world, I think it is appropriate.  It gets the point across without over thinking it.   There are two versions of this, the first being gold, which though they didn't specify, seems like the more common of the two:

And the silver, which will only be available at Kidrobot New York starting October 12th in limited supplies for ten days to coincide with a retrospective exhibit they're holding.  Only 300 of these were made and they will be $50.

But what if you really want to declare your undying devotion to all things plastic?  Well then my friends, let me show you the ultimate way to pay homage to your favorite toy company.  This is the 20 inch gold Dunny and can be yours for $400.  Only 300 of this behemoth were made to help you celebrate like the toy pimp you are.  You can get one October 25th.
